. This year, we are introducing a new modular format that will allow the student more options in their certification
process. The program will begin with a First Responder course in the fall, followed by six modules that lead to full EMT certification.
As the student completes each module, they gain certifications and skills that can be applied with their local EMS service. They can also
stop after a module, and restart at that point at a future time.
Also new this year is the schedule format. The courses will meet from 7pm
– 10pm on Tuesday evenings, and also approximately one all-day Saturday per month (9am – 3:30pm). Attendance at both the Tuesday evening and also the Saturday sessions are required.
A schedule is attached. All classes will be held at the Rutland Regional
Medical Center in Rutland.
The First Responder course will begin Tuesday September 13,
2005 and end with the FR certification exam in December. Students may choose to stop with this certification (the
minimum required for working on an ambulance or First Response Squad), or continue on to the EMT Modules.
The EMT Modules will begin Saturday January 7, and will end with the EMT certification exam on Saturday June 3, 2006.
